About this artwork
Everyone has a favorite place in nature to visit, says artist Joanie Ford. This is reminiscent of one of my favorite places. I wanted to add color, but not too much, keeping the scene muted. Joanie painted this when a bit of the autumn color was still evident in the landscape. I added many layers of pastel to give depth to the artwork. A small waterfall is the focal point of the scene, but there are plenty of places for your eye to travel within it.
