About this artwork
I always love those wet snowfalls when the fresh snow clings to the evergreens, says artist Joanie Ford. I wanted to capture that feeling in this painting, exaggerating the color marks with pinks and aqua. Before I started to paint, I applied pastel ground to the surface of the paper where some of the tree branches and bushes would be painted. That allows the pastel to have some texture, as the marks sit on top of the raised ground.
