About this artwork

I love to watch people at restaurants and cafes. I imagine many types of backdrop stories for them. When there are fewer patrons and it's not busy, I can observe them surreptitiously and try to imagine what is going on in their minds. This particular painting focuses on a female patron who appeared to be awaiting a guest's arrival for a long time. She appeared all the more noticeably lonely since most tables were yet unoccupied. Was she stood up? I will let the viewer decide. The painting is varnished, wired and ready for hanging. The edges are a clean white gesso.
