About this artwork

This scene is at the corner of Rivington Street and Forsyth Street on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. The painting is an interpretation of the 27 Club mural by Eduardo Kobra. The 27 Club includes popular musicians, actors and artists who died when they were 27. Here, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Amy Winehouse are honored. From the trees, you can see the first signs of early spring.
