There's Paris, and there's coffee. But curiously, this painting is about something else, says artist Swarup Dandapat. Although at first glance they may seem in the foreground, the cafe, its customers, the passing cars, and pedestrians all form the background here, rather than being the focal points. After a second and third look, the viewer feels as if there's someone behind the window looking outside as if somebody has just left the sunlit balcony as if the tree is looking upwards and singing softly to the sky.
