About this artwork

This painting depicts a heron walking among the autumn leaves, hunting for a fish on the river. Created with oils with cold wax, artist Melissa Gannon unveils orange hues through scratching and layer removal with solvent. The red and orange foliage contrast with the green and blue reflections on the water. The blend between small strokes and color spaces with larger ones makes the bird stand out against the vibrant environment.
