About this artwork

Melissa Gannon's botanical scenes are directly connected to the nature she depicts. To create this piece, she pressed leaves onto the surface of the heavyweight cotton paper. When the paint was nearly dry, she remove the leaves to create impressions. "Bright flowers work well with the browns and terra cotta colors," says Melissa. "There's a little iridescent paint mostly in the blue which sparkles in the proper light. This piece was a joy to create."
