I find my artistic inspiration in a deep love for color, starting with watercolor and expanding into acrylic, pastel, mixed media, and oil. Nature is my preferred subject, drawn from my travels, hikes, and exploration of the Pacific Northwest's diverse landscapes—coast, rivers, mountains, and desert. Living in the Pacific Northwest offers me abundant opportunities to paint outdoors, capturing the serenity of the woods, a bird's watchful gaze, or the vibrant energy of daisies. My plein air observations enrich my studio work. In addition to creating art, I have shared my skills and knowledge through classes and workshops since 2001. Teaching not only fuels my students' rapid growth but also challenges me to find compelling material. Witnessing my students' artistic expression evolve over the years brings me immense joy. Each painting is a journey of discovery for me. Influenced by the Impressionists, I explore layering and arranging colors to create vibrant patterns of light and beauty on canvas, reflecting the inherent joy in the world. My primary muse is nature, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow, the mosaic of sun-dappled leaves, or the visual delight of a mountain meadow covered in wildflowers. I aim to convey the wonder of these experiences in my work, bringing a slice of nature's beauty indoors for everyone to appreciate.
