About this artwork

Brown Pelicans often cruise along above a line of breakers a ways offshore, but this one, part of a group of 50 or so standing around at the water’s edge at Refugio State Beach, was just circling around to join his mates. “Thus,” Emil notes, “the surf breaking on the beach right below him”. He’s painted in intense colors on a bluewater background.
