About this artwork

Painted to the edges on heavy weight watercolor paper. Will need a mat and frame for display. I have lived near Mt. Diablo, in the San Francisco Bay Area, for a long time, yet it was not until someone asked me to paint it for her, and from her neighborhood, that I began to look at the mountain and foothills with a more discerning eye. The color of the mountain changes many times from morning to night every day, and again many times from one season to another, and in one weather condition or another. Sometimes the mountain is pink or peach toned. Sometimes it is blue or purplish. I love seeing the differences and painting them in my own interpretations of what is ever changing. In this painting I have also had fun painting the silhouettes of oak tree limbs in the foreground, and the lovely contrast of the near and the far.
