About this artwork

Artist Catherine shares a peek into the beautiful autumnal woodlands of California, presenting her keen eye for color and detail in the impressionist work. Referencing a photograph she took along the Sacramento River, she paints the alluring play of bright and soft color dots within view of her photo. I used the technique of negative painting around each small shape of sparkle and accentuated the intricacies of this riverside woodland scene with an intriguing calligraphy of branches and stems, shares Catherine.
