About this artwork

When setting out to paint this image, I wanted to capture two things: the grand, flowing lines of the tree and the fresh feeling of Spring. The focal point is the magnificent tree, and if you look closely at the tree trunk, you’ll see that the entire bottom section was painted in one session - just pigment allowed to flow selectively through the wet surface. It’s one of the beautiful things about watercolor. This piece was painted on heavyweight 300 lb. archival watercolor paper and will need a frame for display.
