About this artwork

This painting began as a plein air piece that the artist then finished in her studio. The sentinels are eucalyptus trees so often seen in northern California. Catherine has used her skills in the handling of color and value to give the viewer a sense of being on the path that promises, in the distance, umbrage from the bright California sunshine.
