About this artwork

Painted on heavy weight watercolor paper to the edges of the paper. This scene is of a local produce farm not far from my home that is basically an urban farm. I love that such farms can still exist in the California Bay Area, even in the midst of the urban sprawl. I chose to paint this on paper that had been coated with gesso for the textural effects I wanted, especially in the swaths of soil between the rows of plantings. The composition is rather dramatic as the diagonals bring the viewer to the depths of the scene.
