About this artwork

When artist PatriciaPrendergast paints at the river, she often quickly picks up her camera and snaps photographs of other details at the site. On one particular trip, the area she was painting was already in full sun, but this spot still had mist rising off the river and the sun just breaking through the trees. I knew that this would be my next studio painting, she says. I toned the paper with a burnt sienna underpainting that unified the palette of colors.
