About this artwork

There is a field near artist Onelio Marrero's home that affords a spacious view of the eastern skies. Onelio often jogs along the road adjacent to this field as the sun rises. As I passed this field on the morning of the winter solstice, the landscape was snow-covered and the sunrise was spectacular, he says. I began this painting soon after that event. I imagined what it would be like to await the dawn with a bonfire, so I placed myself alone in the field awaiting the dawn.
