About this artwork
Artist Christopher Garvey presents a group of varying glassware in different colors, sizes, and shapes. Set against a tonal background, the focus is drawn to the composition's most intricate details. They are placed on top of a wooden table with the table cloth pulled to the back, it adds a bright reflection and texture which is seen through the translucent glass. By taking a traditional approach, Christopher starts his process by building layers of oil paint above an underdrawing. He then works with grisaille, and when once dried, he proceeds with layers of color on top. He paints with intricate brushwork resulting in a captivating realistic still life.
