Artist Statement

My art has evolved to embrace beauty in everyday life's random, often overlooked objects—common dishes, discarded grocery bags, and even trash. I firmly believe that beauty can be found in anything when seen in the right light. My goal is to captivate viewers, urging them to look at familiar things in new ways discovering beauty in the simplicity that surrounds them. History has always fascinated me, particularly the tangible history found in objects from antique stores or flea markets. My inspiration comes from everyday items I encounter, whether they're just lying around or discovered in these unique spaces. Glass, both new and antique, often catches my attention, as well as occasional family heirlooms that find their way into my works. These items become part of my compositions, sparking reflections on their previous owners and the meaning they held. I've explored various techniques, from traditional painting to mixed media, but I've always been fond of working in oil. The layering ability of oil painting allows me to build translucent to opaque layers, striving for accuracy and creating a history of marks throughout each piece.
