About this artwork

North Carolina artist Nancy Hughes Miller has a love for her state’s barrier islands, but not just for their sandy beaches. She sees beauty in the tidal salt marshes that separate the islands from the mainland. This atmospheric landscape features soft purple, blue and chartreuse as clouds retreat after a summer storm. “I find the marsh’s tranquil environment relaxing and soothing,” says Nancy. “I hope my marsh paintings have a similar calming influence on the viewer.”
