About this artwork
I,m always inspired by Van Gogh's Sunflowers, which he mainly painted in Arles, France as he awaited the arrival of his hero, the avant garde painter Paul Gaugin. His sunflowers have been called 'symbols of happiness', which I think is fitting. I like to paint them with my knives for maximum texture and impact. The painting continues around the sides, and it is wired ready to hang.
