About this artwork
Malia decided to paint over a previous portrait she had sitting in the studio for a while, she felt just wasn't working. Not entirely sure where it was going at the beginning, this geisha girl slowly emerged from the surface. Although her face is rendered very thoughtfully, the hair and background has been kept loose to give it some edge.
