About this artwork

In this painting, a view of a tiger exhibit is a meditation on who is observing whom, states artist Jesse Aldana. A figure in a superhero ensemble with cat ears stands in the shadows beside a red cat mascot, a kitten, and a child. The composition is starkly divided between light and shadow masses, but a common element is the striping that occurs on fur, in the tall grass, on the balloons, and in the foreground cast shadows.
