About this artwork

Artist Jesse Aldana presents a peaceful grassland with a well-trodden path leading inward. Inspired by two early morning spring hikesÑthe background comes from a trail in the oak savannah at Malibu Creek State Park in the Santa Monica Mountains, while the foreground was inspired by a visit to the Bear Divide north of Los Angeles. A pair of migrating Western Tanagers pause to rest on a sapling, with their fiery plumage providing a burst of crimson to the verdant landscape. The radiant sunlight emphasizes the effortless beauty of nature with clarity.
