About this artwork

Working from vintage photo, Mary creates an historical homage to the Gibson girl. The Gibson Girl was the personification of the feminine ideal as portrayed by the pen-and-ink illustrations of artist Charles Dana Gibson during a 20-year period that spanned late 19th and early 20th century It's my favorite period in women's fashion where women were coming of age and shedding norms, says Mary. The work is wired to hang; the sides are white.
