About this artwork

This painting is a meditation on perception. It must be so nice to be able to go to Starbucks or the beach or wherever you want every day, people tell novelists. Writer Gay Talese, however, likened the process to driving a truck at night without headlights, losing your way along the road and spending a decade in a ditch.
