About this artwork

While in art college, artist Dwight Smith worked for the National Park Service on Assateague Island N.S. This is the Coast Guard boathouse where crafts are launched during an emergency. A long dock leads the viewer's eye into the composition, guiding toward the ocean. Dwight uses old photos he had taken at sunrise to paint this nostalgic watercolor.
