About this artwork

Turn Point Spring is almost here. A warm breeze and bird songs fill the air. Salty smelling kelp and waves along the shore. The current can be swift. I paint the sights, smells and sounds of the coastal water. I start with a warm underpainting. This one was shades of orange. Then I add layers of thicker and thicker oil paint until it is finished and tells the story I want it to tell. I paint the woods and the water. This island as sanctuary. The beauty gives refuge and pause.
