About this artwork

Crystal DiPietro's paintings start with hikes in remote places. She takes many photographs while out in nature. After every trip, Crystal immediately goes through her photos and picks out the images she intends to use as reference for painting. Then, she lets them sit for a while and contemplates the feeling she wants to express from a particular trip before selecting the final few images. This painting was inspired by my many walks in the flowers during the spring bloom, says Crystal. The desert in spring is so beautiful and uplifting to me.
