The arrangement of three primary colors in the left panel of this diptych emanates intense light, states the artist Shyun Song. Its whole atmosphere exudes splendor like a brilliant day in a field of flowers. She explains of her clean, minimalist oil paintings, As an intense observer, I am interested in mythology and psychology. Whenever I come across a concept that sums up an element of psychology, I start sketching. I use geometric shapes and lines which I have found versatile in illustrating abstract concepts. When I transfer the sketch to a canvas, I still improvise and make specific color choices until I feel satisfied. Since my paintings begin with intangible concepts, I take the title of each painting as seriously as the aesthetic value of the piece. I believe that titles which resonate with our universal experience in life can create a deep human connection between an artist and the viewer.
