About this artwork

My inspiration for this piece comes from my home state of Wisconsin. This central Midwestern land does have some rolling landscape. But the flat marsh lands always attract my attention. I created this painting using oil paint mixed with cold wax medium for a buttery texture. I used my fingers and scrapers to add and remove layers until the piece felt like my marsh land. This painting has a buffed wax varnish on the surface and the bare wood sides. This work is wired to hang.
