About this artwork
With this butterfly series I wanted to make a trompe l'oeil effect. When the painting is framed, it would look like a butterfly collection as many people make framing real butterflies. It is made with professional high-quality oils (Old Holland, Maimeri Puro, Sennelier extra-fine, Michael Harding). The painting is made on a professional acid-free paper (Fabriano Tela 300gms). It is varnished with Gamvar, a high-quality varnish made by Gamblin Colors Co. and developed in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art.
