About this artwork
The title of this series of studies of birds' eggs is a phrase from a quote by James Allen, The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities. The egg was created by collaging real eggshells onto the canvas and then painting over it to add color and dimension. The sides of the gallery wrapped canvas are finished as a continuation of the background. It comes ready to hang.
