About this artwork

Part of Libby's ongoing series of intricate collages inspired by relatable family memories and personal artifacts. She explains of this piece, I transferred images of my mother and her brother along with other family members onto vocabulary cards from the early fifties. The cat and dog represent the relationship between these two siblings, who were very close in age. I used the vocabulary cards as a foundation to bring sound into the picture - as you read them, you hear the words in your head.
