About this artwork

This piece is made by layering Korean mulberry paper on a wooden panel with homemade flour glue. Then I apply a glue base. Next, I draw my sketch, and trace it on the paper. Then I paint three or four layers of a background color using pigments and glue base. Lastly, I paint the subject in fine detail, which takes most of time. The painting is on a cradled wood panel with finished edges.I placed two objects that can not be seen together in real life to present the imbalances and irregularities in our world. Hate and love, good and evil, joy and sorrow. However, in my painting, the imbalance is hidden. Instead tranquility, peace, and happiness standout. I want to show the happiness and peace we continually pursue and long for, even in the middle of this imperfect world.
