About this artwork

A beautiful butterfly alights on a buckskin horse in artist Jennifer Ross' impressionist work. This piece is about metamorphosis, says Jennifer. She composes the equine portrait using her eggshell technique, inspired by Kintsugi - a Japanese art form of repairing broken objects with gold lacquer. She collages brown shell fragments overlaid with paint and paper, then highlights them with subtle touches of metallic pigment to catch the light.
