About this artwork

In my Iconic Pond series I explored the idea of taking a landscape and making it into a literal icon, with gold leaf, in a Byzantine sort of way. This painting further delves into that idea with metal leaf over a textured canvas, a layer of oil to tone the gold color just right, and then the oil landscape on top. This unvarnished painting on gallery-wrapped canvas has gray-painted sides and is ready to hang.
