About this artwork

A woman kneels in a contemplative pose, her shadowed face and the hint of a mask over her eyes creating a mysterious aura. Muted grays emphasize splashes of orange and blue. Artist Gail Ragains pushes into abstraction through gestural mark-making, expressive brushwork, and an intuitive approach to the figure. She used ink, charcoal, paint, and collage to create the piece.
