About this artwork
This encaustic beeswax and oil painting was done from applied air study that I did with my painting friends in Berkeley. I wanted to paint it in encaustics at my studio. I started by collaging 6squares of vintage papers from sewing patterns and seismic maps. See detail. Paper sizes the cradled panel so the beeswax adheres. I wanted to express the tranquil coolness of the afternoon shadows. To my back is the Golden Gate Bridge across the bay. Ground squirrels there are always entertaining. Edges are black, cable attached
