About this artwork
My inspiration for this painting was Fall in California. Painting into the beeswax and layers of blowtorching helps hopefully with my intention of giving the viewer a sense of entering the woods at the peek color changing in the leaves. A cradled birch board is laid with 1906 Vanity Fair pages to hold the beeswax. The antique typeface shows through and acts as a compositional element. The surface may be buffed to a glossy sheen with a soft cloth. Edges are black and a cable is attached.
