About this artwork
This very expressionist rendering of tidal wetlands offers only a minimum of detail. The real purpose here is expressive paint handling, especially in the clouds, which are painted with a large flat brush in thick paint, which accentuates their mass and solidity. Other parts of the work are almost roughed in, in order to allow the bold colors and brushwork to remain the primary focus. The sides are painted brown, and it comes ready to hang.
