About this artwork

Inspired by an old photo, this work hearkens back to impressionist and post-impressionist paintings of similar subject matter. The true subject here is light — light in the bright sky and its effect on the water. The time of day is suggested by the use of yellow and gold near the horizon, indicating that the sun has begun its descent. Close your eyes and you can almost feel the breeze on your face! The sides of the piece are painted brown, and it arrives wired and ready to hang.
