Artist Statement

Painting is always involved with the nature of light. As such, I have sought to polarize light, sinking, and rising subtle variations with harsh instances of movement to instigate a contemplative narrative. Raised in a Christian conservative background, the pressures of faith have become my paradigm; yet, there is an empathetic relation towards the fragmented and poignant temporality of the material world in which we reside. Embracing the nuances of both realities, I find myself exiled from religion and reason and enclosed deep within the fissures of the present cultural chasm. My works instill an antinomy: a paradox illuminating adversity and isolation between faith, logic, and the search for beauty.
