Voskan Galstian | Artist Profile Photo
Voskan Galstian
Glendale, California
When Voskan Galstian approaches a canvas, he does so with an open mind. When I am creating art I tend to sever my mind from making decisions he explains. His paintings show this intuitive process in their dynamic movement and unique color combinations. Voskan finds inspiration in abstract expressionism; in the vein of that style, he paints based on his deepest emotions. Many people have expressed that they feel a connection with his work - in some cases, it soothes them. When he's not making art, you can find Voskan traveling or reading about geography.

Artist Statement

I paint in an abstract expressionist style with oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, and mixed media. I feel more open and more related to abstract art. I enjoy this style of art the most because I am free to express my emotions the way I see fit. It's much more modern and allows me to express myself without limitations. I find my inspiration in music, nature, and my internal emotions and reactions. Artists such as Arshile Gorky, Wassily Kandinsky, and John Miro inspire me because they have created some of the most beautiful and creative works in history. I share their views and artistic elements. Art is simply a medium for me to coexist with the world. It is me and it is a part of my being.I aim to create art that invites people to explore my perspective and learn more about who I am, offering them insight into how I perceive the world. I began painting in my early teenage years and have experimented with many styles and tastes of art. Over the last 35 years, I have self-taught myself, pursued higher education in art, instructed art classes overseas, and been involved in many art exhibitions.
