Tao Bai
Mississauga, Canada
Artist Tao Bai expressively paints vibrant natural scenes and landscapes. Painting is the best way for me to reconnect my inner soul with nature, shares Tao. Drawing inspiration from Monet, Gauguin, and Van Gogh, Tao refines his perception and techniques to capture our world's complex quality of light and color. He discovered painting in middle school and greatly admired 19th-century impressionism and post-impressionism. This led him to pursue formal art education at the School of Fine Arts at Nanjing Normal University, and after graduation, he worked in art design. Today, Tao paints full-time and brings out his curiosity, which urges him to find meaning in his surroundings. His home studio is a modest room in his daughter's house in Canada, decorated with abundant flowers that he plants himself. Being in tune with his creativity pleases and lets him forget about time and space. Outside the studio, he enjoys traveling, creating documentaries about artisans, and taking pictures of the outdoors.

Artist Statement
I specialize in nature and landscape paintings and have been working primarily with oils in recent years. I have always had great admiration for 19th-century Impressionism and have carefully studied the works of Monet, Gauguin, and Van Gogh. Drawing inspiration from these masters, I have refined my own perception and techniques to capture the complex nature of light and color in my works. Now I paint most days, I like to paint naturally and loosely. Painting is the best way for me to reconnect my inner soul with Nature. It brings out the curiosity in me and gives me the urge to find meaning in Nature’s natural beauty. It brings me pleasures and surprises and lets me forget the time and the space. My inspiration is the search for love, beauty, harmony, and aesthetics in the surrounding world. My style is impressionistic - Impressionism and Post-Impressionism have had a profound influence on me.
