Artist Patrick Duffy creates multi-scaled abstract compositions that seek to realize patterns through process, form, and color. Growing up in the coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine, he started creating art very early. He explores time, space, theoretical, and science fiction themes. I would describe my works as translated visions of paradoxes, says Patrick. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute in 2006. His works have been part of many New York, New England, and Houston, TX shows. Publications include The New York Times, Things to See in the Hudson Valley for the exhibition Intricate Realities at the Catskill Arts Society in 2016, as well as Creating in Color for Trouvé Magazine Volume 3 in 2015. Artist Statement

I am fascinated by the interplay of process, form, and color in creating multi-scaled artworks that evoke patterns and illusory depths within real space. Using various mediums like pencil, pen, ink, and paint on canvas, I layer mark-making to mimic the intricate building blocks of my exploration between the metaphysical and the tangible. Much like composing a song or crafting a complex dish, my art is a collage of elements that come together to form a unified idea. Drawing inspiration from my passion for painting, drawing, and environmental sciences, my works often reflect specific theories and concepts explored within the canvas. Growing up in a small fishing community by the ocean, I draw from nautical themes to evoke a sense of time and place, portraying them in an accretive yet flattened manner that conveys a feeling of perpetual motion. Through my art, I aim to invite viewers to contemplate the influences and experiences that have shaped my perspective on the world.
