Miranda Gamel | Artist Profile Photo
Miranda Gamel
Gilbert, Arizona
Artist Miranda Gamel paints ethereal portraits of women and animals, bridging the surreal and fantastical with a strong connection to human emotions. Through dynamic energy, each painting encapsulates the essence and spirit embodied by the subject of the composition. As the daughter of two artists, Miranda grew up nurturing artistic aspirations. When I was young, I couldn't imagine being anything else - it just felt natural, says Miranda. After finishing high school, she began attending workshops and delving into techniques from both old masters and more contemporary artists. While traveling, Miranda often carries her sketchbook and minimal painting supplies, finding a process that relies solely on the essentials. In her home studio, affectionately referred to as a 'cluttered kind of clean,' she surrounds herself with supplies, canvases, and paints. When she's not painting, Miranda dedicates time to baking, playing with her adopted cat, and teaching art to aspiring professional artists.

Artist Statement

As an artist, I have a deep passion for expression, as well as creating a space for others to feel free to express themselves, however they see fit. My work starts messy, with layers and layers of aerosol, stencils, patterns, and thin drippy washes. Staring at a blank canvas can be intimidating, so this first step is a fun and playful way to overcome that intimidation. Sometimes parts of this first layer will show through, and sometimes it gets fully covered as the painting evolves. My work has evolved quite a bit over the years, but I have always been drawn to the female form. I enjoy painting women who evoke the feeling of freedom, independence, beauty, and sensuality.
This artist is beloved by many collectors across the country, however they do not have any reviews here yet. Questions?
