Jodi Dann
Beavercreek, Oregon
Artist Jodi Dann creates mixed-media modernist and abstract art that balances spontaneity and imperfection, often exploring themes of food and nature. She began her artistic journey in 1999 after leaving a 20-year career in the restaurant and food supply trade. “When my husband said I did not need to work anymore if I chose, I jumped at the offer,” says Jodi. To continuously improve her art practice, she stays present, observes simple things, and focuses on textures, lines, and colors. Jodi works from her cozy home studio, painted in Sedona-inspired warm colors, just a short walk from her house, where she creates and experiments while listening to Pandora. Her hobbies include gardening, traveling, and collecting heart rocks and animal skulls.

Artist Statement
Mixed media is my medium. I love the spontaneity of abstract. It's a great feeling to connect with color while adding layers of paint or texture as I flow through the painting. Inspiration comes from just showing up in my studio, a color, a word I hear or read, a poem, a shadow, a reflection, or a light, can give me a spark. I like imperfection in my paintings, it leads me to that place between abstract and realism.
