Allan P. Friedlander | Artist Profile Photo
Allan P. Friedlander
San Francisco, California
At first glance of Allan P Friedlander's work, one can see the free, painterly influence of artists such as Monet and van Gogh. However, he puts his own twist on the nature-themed scenes he creates, using highly choreographed color palettes and blurring the lines between impressionism and abstraction. For his most recent series, he traveled across the English countryside looking to capture the beauty and vibrance of the landscape. The resulting work flows with energy and the discovery of a grand road trip.

Artist Statement

My paintings, ranging from landscapes to flowers and abstracts, reflect my interests. Growing up in Southern Georgia instilled a passion for the rural countryside and a deep love for the outdoors. Having lived in various parts of the country and abroad, I finally found my home in the breathtaking landscapes of Northern California.

In 1999, I decided to commit full-time to painting, using photography solely as a reference for my landscape pieces. My work is internally driven and emotionally charged, embodying a fusion of different styles. I blend flowers and landscapes in an abstract manner, giving my paintings a distinctive look, with color playing a pivotal role.

Through my art, I strive to convey the beauty I see in nature, whether in an abstract or semi-abstract form. The core of my work lies in expressing emotions through colors—this is the guiding force that stems from my deepest inner feelings. My ultimate goal is to share the excitement I feel with others, hoping that viewers can enjoy and be moved by the emotions conveyed in my paintings.
