About this artwork

The inspiration for this painting is from a walk the artist took in Manhattan's Central Park. The steps lead downward into the park at the 59th street promenade. While Manhattan is an incredibly busy urban setting, Central Park is an invitation to commune with nature. The artist placed the figure of the woman interring the park as a visual reference to John Muir's statement: “And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul”
