The scene Onelio painted here is on the south side of Manhattan's Central Park. People can hire hansom cabs along 59th Street. The rides begin along this street and the carriages meander through parts of southern Central Park. To the left one can see the equestrian statue of Cuba's historic leader and poet, Jose Marti.
